Overview
GCC certification was launched to reduce technical barriers to trade between GCC member states (United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Yemen). The GCC mark means that the product meets the basic requirements for health, safety and the environment. The GCC mark is compulsory for the item categories for which the GCC technical regulations have been enforced.
Under the GCC mark system, it is decided whether conformity assessment will be performed through a manufacturer or a Notified Body (NB) according to the relevant technical regulations.
The GCC mark may be placed on the product by the manufacturer, the manufacturer's agent, or legal representatives in the GCC market. It may also be placed on the product by the seller in the GCC market if referred to in the applicable technical regulations.
Classification and Procedure
Target items are classified into LIST 1 and LIST 2 according to the level of risk. The product group in LIST 1 requires the manufacturer's self-declaration of conformity (DoC) method, meanwhile the product group in LIST 2 requires certification from a third-party certification body (NB).
